SUBMITTING MANUSCRIPTS
Slavic Review is a peer-reviewed journal featuring new scholarship, in any discipline, concerning eastern and east-central Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, past and present. We seek original and significant new research that also explores conceptual and analytical themes with potential resonance across fields and disciplines.
Manuscripts for consideration should meet the following criteria:
- Printed on a letter-quality or near letter-quality printer
- Submitted by post or courier in three double-spaced copies (when acknowledging your submission we will ask you for an electronic copy as well)
- Prepared without reference to the author, as manuscripts are sent to outside readers in anonymous form
- Notes and block quotations should also be double-spaced; notes should be placed at the end of the manuscript and not at the bottoms of pages
- Library of Congress transliteration and the Chicago Manual of Style are to be followed
- Submitted manuscripts may use either the humanities style (endnotes) or the author-date-bibliography system, though accepted articles will need to be revised to conform to Slavic Review's house style
Please submit to:

Additional information regarding the preparation of manuscripts:
- Articles should not exceed 8,000 words, excluding endnotes. Please indicate the word count on the cover page of the manuscript.
- The policy of Slavic Review is not to consider materials that have been published or that are being considered for publication elsewhere in any form or in any language.
- Slavic Review is the journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, whose members support the journal through their dues. Therefore, Slavic Review expects the authors of articles published in the journal to belong to the Association or, for authors not residing in the United States, to be a member of their comparable national organization.
- To facilitate the process of review, authors will be asked, when the print submission is received and acknowledged, to send an electronic version of their manuscript as an e-mail attachment or on computer diskette. Accepted manuscripts will be copyedited electronically.
- Submissions will not be returned.
- Ordinarily, we are able to report back to authors about their submissions within four months.
- If you have questions, you may contact the editor at slavrev@illinois.edu
